Thaispice London
If you're on the lookout for authentic Thai flavors in East London, Thaispice London is one of those hidden gems that keeps surprising you in the best way. Located at 292 Hackney Rd, this cozy yet vibrant spot brings a full-on Thai experience, blending traditional recipes with modern flair in both food and atmosphere.
What sets Thaispice London apart is how it balances comfort and character. Step through the wheelchair-accessible entrance and you’re greeted by warm lighting, a casual vibe, and even a rooftop seating area for those who enjoy a breezy view with their meal. Whether you’re popping in for a quick bite, a solo dinner, or even looking for a place with private dining options, this spot ticks the box.
Now, let’s talk about food-the reason we’re all here. Thaispice London doesn’t just serve Thai food; it celebrates it. Classics like the Thai Green Curry and Red Curry are crowd favorites for a reason. Rich, aromatic, and perfectly balanced, they’re the kind of dishes that make you slow down and savor every spoonful. The Beef Massaman Curry is another standout-it’s bold, hearty, and comfort food at its finest.
If you’re after starters that deliver punchy flavor, the Satay Gai and Poh Pia Tod are excellent picks. The satay skewers are juicy and well-marinated, served with a creamy peanut sauce that could be a dish of its own. The crispy spring rolls? Golden and crunchy on the outside, packed with flavor inside.
Thaispice London also caters to a broader palate. You'll find Buffalo Wings, T-Bone Steak, Chicken Fillet Steak, and even Hamburgers, offering a welcome twist for those who want a break from traditional Thai. It's not fusion-it’s flexibility done right. The kitchen knows how to keep things interesting without losing identity.
The Pad Thai Noodles are worth mentioning too-not overly sweet, with the right touch of tang, and topped with a satisfying crunch of crushed peanuts. Pair that with a Passion Fruits Mojito and you’ve got yourself a little tropical escape right in Hackney. They also offer I Pak Tom Kha, a coconut soup that’s soothing, fragrant, and a delightful reminder of Thai comfort cuisine.
Vegan and vegetarian diners aren’t left out either. With plenty of plant-based dishes, a salad bar, and a focus on organic and halal food, the menu feels inclusive without sacrificing quality or flavor. Add to that the fact that they offer free water refills, coffee, and healthy options, and you’ve got a restaurant that’s thoughtful at every level.
One thing worth appreciating is their service style-offering dine-in, takeaway, delivery, and even no-contact delivery. Whether you’re dining in with friends or cozying up at home with a warm bowl of curry, you’ll get the same consistent quality. The fact that it’s also popular for both lunch and dinner makes it a solid choice for everything from mid-day cravings to evening indulgences.
Another charming touch is their great dessert selection-something not every Thai restaurant pays attention to. Whether it’s sticky rice with mango or something more Western like a slice of cake to cap off your meal, there’s something sweet to round things out.
Overall, Thaispice London manages to walk that fine line between casual dining and culinary experience. It's got soul, it’s got spice, and most importantly-it delivers.

Loved the food, was just as we expected it to be. For me the Thai curry was so flavourful and aromatic. Prawns were cooked perfectly too and the service was great, so welcoming and attentive. Will definitely be returning to try other items on the menu. Thank you Thai spice!

I've been wanting to visit this place for a while, and it definitely lived up to the pictures! The service was excellent and the food was really tasty . I’ll definitely be coming back. Only downside? They only accept cash – would be great if they offered card payments too!
